Pastor Kephyan Sheppard is a native of Palm Springs, CA and is the Pastor of Word of Life Fellowship Center In Desert Hot Springs, CA. He accepted his call to preach the Gospel in 2004 under the leadership of Superintendent Jerry Johnson at Lily of the Valley Church of God in Christ. After several years of serving as a youth minister at Fountain of Life COGIC (Supt. Carlton Anderson), in 2011 he was ordained as an Elder in the church by the honorable Bishop CE Simmons; where he was a member of Family of Love Church in Palm Springs, CA pastored by Bishop James Young. At the turn of the year 2012, God spoke to Pastor Sheppard and called him to plant a church in the city of Desert Hot Springs. In February 2012, Pastor Sheppard along with his wife Elect Lady Tricina Sheppard launched Word of Life Fellowship Center inside the Desert Hot Springs Senior Center.
In four years, God has used WOL mightily to do Kingdom work in the city of DHS. Under his leadership, WOL has served over 5000 meals to the homeless community and have impacted over a thousand families with toys for the holidays along with school supplies, and has established a Bible College in the city of Desert Hot Springs. Furthermore, Mayor Scott Matas recently appointed Pastor Sheppard as a Commissioner to the city of Desert Hot Springs. He is also an active chaplain to the city’s police department, a board member to the city’s Microloan Program, and is an advisor to Desert Hot Springs High School’s Black Student Union.
In addition to his work in the community, Pastor Sheppard is an area representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which involves him covering 5 high schools in the valley, teaching the Gospel during lunch period bible studies. He also serves as the Executive Secretary and Overseer for the state of California in the International Churches of Praise Fellowship. Moreover, Pastor Sheppard is an accomplished musician; he has been playing the saxophone since the age of eight, has recorded an album (Kephyan:Revealed), and is currently in the writing stages for the second album.
Pastor Sheppard has earned a Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies, a Master’s Degree in Divinity, and will be graduating this June having obtained a Doctorate in Ministry from Next Dimension University. With all that he is and does, Pastor Sheppard eagerly admits that his most important roles are husband and father. He and Elect Lady Tricina Sheppard have been married for 12 years and have 2 boys, Juston and Caleb, and one girl, princess MyKayla.
When asked about his substantial workload, Pastor Sheppard proclaims that God is the source of his strength; he credits his wife for her covering and support as well as Word of Life for their constant prayers. Pastor Sheppard considers himself truly blessed.
